Zola Baird / ZEF: 2025 TCS New York City Marathon

Growing up in South Africa I was lucky enough to spend a significant amount of time in national parks and on game reserves, and have developed a deep, longstanding passion for Africana wildlife conservation. However, spending this time in Africa has also let me witness the plight of African elephants first hand, and understand the very real risk posed to their continued ability to thrive. For these reasons I am running the NY marathon to grow awareness for the plight of African elephants, and raise funds to help secure a long-lasting future for elephants and their habitats.

    Zola - You saw your first elephant at ten days old and knew all the heights, weights and eating habits of most African mammals by age five. You've run from an angry hippo and chased countless elephants on foot and by truck. Glad you will be running for them and instead of away from them this November! 🩷🏃‍♂️🐘

About Zola Baird

I was a DIII rower in university for Williams College, and since then have become an avid runner and cyclist in NYC. I ran my first half-marathon in 2023, and ran a second one in 2024. As someone living in New York, I understand the significance of the NY marathon, and am very excited to be running it for such a great cause.
